Swimming Pool Covers
Pool covers have gained huge popularity in South Africa. The traditional Hook on Pool Cover is different from our Pole Pool Cover in looks and design. It’s made from the same PVC as our Pole Pool Covers and offers similar benefits, the main difference is the Hook on Pool Cover Uses the water of the pool to support it while the pole pool cover uses aluminum poles for support.
The Hook on Pool Cover has a very good weight tolerance and can hold one adult and a child but only offers a degree of safety because rainwater can accumulate on top of the cover and this poses a threat to Children. This cover does provide safety for dogs & cats because they can get on and off the Pool Cover.
What Pool owners must realize is that a pool secured with a Hook on Pool Cover allows for significant savings. The benefits of using the cover in summer will help in reducing water evaporation and help increase water temperature, extending your swimming season. In winter this Pool cover prevents dirt and leaves from entering the pool water therefore the water and hygiene are greatly improved, reducing the amount of filtration required. With your pool pump using 12% of your household electricity, it will result in a huge saving in electricity but most importantly all that time saved on maintenance!
Why spend money maintaining your pool when it is not in use? When opening the pool for summer, the pool is clean, clear, and ready to swim with little effort. These pool covers are available in Blue and Brown, we use a 600gsm PVC specifically for the use of swimming pool covers because its U.V. treated & chemical resistant and comes with a 3 Year Material Warranty.
The PVC is joined with high-frequency welding, no glue is used because it will come undone and no stitching is used because it will perforate your cover. Sunlight cannot enter the pool due to the Black layer underneath the cover. This helps in preventing algae growth.
When securing the cover not much strength is needed to create the required tension. This has the huge benefit that the pool user will be more likely to replace the cover after using the pool.
- Keeps dirt and debris out of the pool. Allows no sunlight through, preventing almost no growth of algae.
- Huge savings on chemical costs.
- 98% less water evaporation (Savings)
- A Solid PVC Cover could pay itself off within one to two seasons due to cost savings.

Swimming pool safety measures:
Swimming pool safety measures include a pool fence, pool nets, Pool Covers and self-latching gates, and pool alarms. Adding a few different kinds of safety elements to a pool can prevent a child from drowning.
A traditional pool cover with hooks and eyelets is safe but as soon as it rains and there is a puddle of water in the middle it could be a hazard, so always make sure there is no water on top of the solid PVC cover.
The Nets4pools Pvc Pool Cover is an effective barrier as it seals off the pool and prohibits all access to the water. However, still, the best method is that of responsible adult supervision.

REDUCE POOL UPKEEP AND ASSOCIATED COSTS WITH NETS4POOLS POOL COVER
Many pool owners don’t realize that a pool secured with a good quality pool cover allows for not only peace of mind but significant household savings too.
Whereas a pool net or pool fence (popular child safety devices around a pool) still leave pool water exposed to the natural elements (sun, wind, rain), our Pool Covers form an impenetrable barrier over the water.
An adult can safely walk across the pool cover. Power savings: cleaner water requires less filtering and backwashing, which amounts to significant power savings.
Filtration is still required for aeration and eradicating minor impurities but pump time can be halved. In an average domestic pool, the pool pump consumes 13% of the household’s electricity.Nets4pools Pool Cover reduces this to 6%. Water savings: reduced evaporation losses (up to 90% less)means less water input to maintain optimum levels.
Chemical savings: under our Pool Covers, algae growth is reduced, allowing for less chemical input without compromising water hygiene.
Reduced debris contamination: this cover prevents dirt, droppings, and leaves from entering the pool water – the water aesthetics and hygiene are greatly improved.Winter solution: the reduced upkeep and savings make a Pool Cover a savvy solution for closing a pool in winter months or when not in use for long periods.
Why spend money maintaining your pool when it is not in use? When opening the pool for summer, the pool is clean, clear, and swim-ready with little effort.

POOL SAFETY LEGISLATION
Pool owners will have a window period in which to secure pools and then register with the Municipality. Non-compliance will carry a fine and repeat offenders can face a jail term. Municipal officials will inspect properties to ensure compliance.
South Africa is soon to pass new pool safety legislation, making it mandatory for all pools to be secured for children via approved safety devices. Among the legislation’s approved standards are Pool Covers.
Therefore, if you have to add safety to your pool, opt for the approved solution that goes well beyond just drowning prevention – a cover that curbs evaporation (saves water), reduces filtration times (saves power), and keeps the water debris free and hygienic (and saves chemicals).
